Rohit Sharma IN Indian Cricket Team

India did it alright. The Indian cricket team has managed to win the England One Day International series and that too by topping the Brits by 0.20 points after their 3-2 win. This is the first time India has been ranked number one in three years. And let me tell you, it was no walk in the park for the home team.
Just towards the end of 2012, three of our best cricketers decided that it is time they retired, leaving the fate of the Indian cricket team in the hands of a bunch of glorified amateurs; No offence to m.s DHONI, of course. It must have been a trying time for the Big Kahuna as well. He had just dusted himself and got back on the horse after his crushing defeat in the previous tournament. So amidst all the hustle and bustle of pulling up a new team and desperate measures to avoid getting sacked and have Virat Kohli take his place, Dhoni was slowing collapsing, one cricket player at a time.
Then came the India vs England One DAY International series that shook the faith of cricket fans everywhere and proved to them that there is indeed hope for India at the cricket front. So we lost three of our very best players- V.V.S Laxman, Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid. But fear not, three have risen above the rest, inching their way to that coveted mantle- Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli and Rohit. These three are all the rage in cricket today. Virat Kohli has kept up a consistently impressive performance, while Pujara is proving to be quite the middle order batsman. With either of the two dominating the first three ODIs, Rohit was missed out till Pujara took a leave of absence in the Fourth ODI.
When Sharma was selected ahead of Pujara in the fourth match of the series, a deluge of opposition broke out against the decision. He along with Gautam Gambhir was sent out as opening batsmen. Odd choice as it may be, he pulled a Tendulkar by scoring 83 runs in the beginning itself. His impressive performance at the ODI had the captain of the cricket team showering him with adulation and referring to him as one of the God gifted talent around. For a kid who has been trying to make it in the team since his foray in 2007, he sure is on the right track to cricket stardom
